Wisconsin We Care was originally inspired by AMVET Post member
Nicole Bukowski, Wisconsin We Care has been up and running for over 5
years. They receive food and other needed items from various businesses
and individuals and then package them and send them to military units in
Iraq and Afghanistan. Nicole's parents Jeffrey Bukowski and his wife, Dana,
are the coordinators of this great effort. They have supplied over 50 units
with packages containing personal hygiene products, snacks and
miscellaneous goodies (batteries, stationary etc.).

When Nichole was over seas with the 32nd MP Co, the PX was not up and
running and supplies were very primitive, and initially the basics were
supplied (shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.).
Over 3,700 cases and 100,000 pounds later, Wisconsin We Care has
touched the lives of many troops.

Wisconsin We Care has been fortunate in receiving this continuing
support, personal satisfaction and recognition; though not sought but
confirmed that they are making a difference.

The National Guard awarded them the Patrick Henry Award as well as
recognition in the form of a plaque from the 126th Field Artillery, B Battery,
for thanks and recognition to
Wisconsin We Care's support.

Wisconsin We Care continues to need the support of business and
private sector donations in the form of product and cash (to cover shipping
cost - very expensive) and the personal effort of many individuals that
come and donate their time to package these items for shipment.

Wisconsin We Care is located in the Marian Center for Non-Profits on the
4th floor at 3211 S. Lake Drive. They store, sort assemble and package
everything they receive from this location at Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.
Until 2:00 p.m.

A great help to
Wisconsin We Care is the father of a Sgt. with the
2/127th infantry, Al Melichar. He is second in command.
